Paper Dolls Quilt Complete!

I just finished the Paper Dolls quilt and I am not going to show it to you! It's a gift for someone that knows someone that follows me on Facebook. So it's a secret - - -

I will however show you the quilt that had leftover blocks - which I used to make the Paper Dolls quilt. It's very satisfying to use up UFO's (unfinished objects) instead of throwing them in a box.

Paper Pieced Quilt Complete

I made this quilt from a paper-piecing class I taught for QFC at Church of the Apostles several years ago. The blocks are small and it's machine quilted. 40" square.

Vogue 8903 - Buttonhole Madness!!!

Saw this pattern last summer and found a challis that I really love. Started it - stopped - restarted - and now am almost finished. I'll review the pattern when I've completed the dress but the buttonholes just made me MAD. I've used the memory for buttonholes on my Bernina 440 for same size multiple buttonholes, but not this time. I put the first one into memory, stitch 2 more - then the machine would go into reverse and not stop! I'd re-stitch a sample, without or with success, cleaned and oiled the foot, clean the machine above the pressure foot (with Windex on a cotton swab) and changed the needle for good measure. Slowly, I could stitch 1 or 2, and then it would go awry. Into a dressmaker's life also comes a lot of un-sewing - I had to rip out 2 half-stitched buttonholes from the dress. Completed all 11 - still don't know if it was the buttonhole foot, interfacing, the machine or the fabric???

BTW, I really like the metal buttons -

I Want To Talk About Me - Block 1 Quilted

The " I Want To Talk About Me" April block is quilted. I used a built-in bubble stitch at the top, parallel straight stitches for the rain, and free-motion rain drops and splashes at the bottom.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Hope your year is filled with fabric and completed projects.

Here is a painting I just finished from a picture my niece, Carolyn W., took. It is acrylic, 16" X 24" canvas, painted with one #6 round brush.
